I am still confused. Appreciate the heads up on where to look. However, the only thing that is even close to recognizable is that carrier. The best it can be is a trac lock, it is not a power lok, I gurantee that.
Cross pin is to small. Unfortunatley it looks like an open carrier to me also.
Sounds like the front axle would have been a swap out of a 76 to 77.5, F-250, they are the only ones I know of that had the low pinion and disc brakes. Late 77 they went over to the HP version.
The reason I thought that it was a limited slip/ locker is because the 8.8 that I pulled out didn't have one. Neither does my dad's '77 F150. Both tires spin all the time..
While you're on the subject, Maybe you can help me. I have a 1975 F-250 that I bought new. It has a Dana 44 closed knuckle with drum brakes from the factory. I need a left side axle shaft assembly. I thought I had a new one coming from Iowa, but it came in wrong. The local salvaged parts dealer that ordered it for me didn't want to try it again. Can you tell me where or who to talk to about this? Thanks in advance.
IMO - I would be putting some new spring perches on the axle housing so the springs would be sitting on them all the way!! the way that is bolted on there it would not take a lot to have a disaster!! also may be an add a leaf or small lift to keep the housing from hitting the crossmember!!
i am planning on lifting the truck 4 or 5 inches. Just havent got the springs or fresh u bolts. when i lift it i am going to do a u-bolt flip. im going to box those mounts.
