How do I pull the axles in a 1991 4x4 with a Dana 44 IFS
Im swaping gears in my 1991 F150. Rear is done, working on the front. I have the drive shaft off case open to where I can sort of get in it. How the crap do I get the axles out? I see a "C" clamp pin holding the passanger side in but nothing for the drivers side.... Is their something that Im not doing. Seems like the Housing should seperate from the Axle Arm Assembly a little easier but maybe it will when I get the axles pulled.
So I guess Im asking how do I pull the axles in a 1991 F150 4x4 Front End with a Dana 44 IFS....
Look at the silver/grey banner across the top of the page. Move your cursor over Articles/Specs and click on List Articles. From the list on the left click on Transmission/Axles and then on Dana 44 U-Joint Replacement.
Full instructions there.

Yeah, I got the IFS also. They should both just pull out either way. The passenger one (on mine anyhow) slides into a shorter shaft and there is a boot around it that you have to maneuver it through. Driver just slides out.
When you remove the wheel and the rotor, their are 6 (i believe it was 6) nuts that hold the sleeve on. Remove those and the drivers side slides right out. The passanger side had a C-clip in the 3rd member.
is your truck a nite edition? how much lift do u have and what size tires?
Yes, its a 1991 NITE with the rollered 302HO 4x4. I have 12 inches of lift and 38.5x15x15 Super Swamper Boggers. I went wide but if I would have stuck with a 12.5 wide tire I could easily slide 40 or 42's under it. But I also paid for some fender reconstruction LOL befor those monster wide tires....
Please post me some pics of yours and tell me about it. We have a rare truck....
