not to mention I cant do a schrader vavle test cuz I cant locate it on the framerail, and I also dont have an inline fuel filter. I did however stumble in the haynes that with my EEC IV system I can run self diagnostic tests without a handscan tool by using a voltmeter and a jumer wire through the EEC Diagnostic port and the Sig Ret port
luckily my haynes manual has the procedures for an KOEO test and the continous codes as well as the entire list of DTC's it might throw out and how to test using a voltmeter ( so I dont have to be in the cab to watch the engine light flash ) sweep in sequence, and which wire to jumper to the sig ret and which to stick the hot prong of the volt/multimeter in after it took me about 45 minutes to find the EEC plug, which oddly neither were plugged into anything ( dont know if its a good or bad thing )
( so I dont have to be in the cab to watch the engine light flash )
There is no Engine Light, or check engine light on 1980-1986 trucks.
All there is is a Emissions light for trucks equipped with EEC-IV, and TFI-IV, however this light is not connected to the EEC at all, so won't do you any good.
All the Emissions light is, is a reminder light to do a self diagnostic on the computer, and to test different sensors. It's hooked up to a timer and will come on every 60,000 miles or so, If there is a problem or not. The Emission light is useless.
ok had me worried there for a second lol im about to budle up and go out there to warm the truck up ( pretty much open heads and downpipes ) then run my KOEO test and see if any continous codes come up too
