You might want to try just running pipes after the cat. This is what I have done and I enjoy the sound. There is resonance at lower RPMs, it rumbles nicley when the motor is under stain at higher RPM, and it burbles when I downshift.

If you put the Gibson on yourself, go to a muffler shop and ask for a 29 inch long pipe. 3 inches in diameter, rammed to fit over another 3 inch pipe on both sides. And replace the muffler with the pipe. Mine cost $15.

If you just have the muffler and not the whole cat-back system you might need a different type of pipe.

LAST EDITED ON 17-Oct-01 AT 11:37 AM (EST)[p]Dee, I have a '93 F150 5.0 also with a gibson catback (single side swept) I love it but like you say doesn't sound REAl aggressive. My father-in-law has a '98 F150 with the 5.4. He has a Flowmaster on his (sorry, not sure which one). His is a little bit louder but not quite as deep of a tone as mine. His is MUCH louder in the cab with the windows rolled up. It's hard to carry on a conversation in his truck if that concerns you. Hope this helps a little bit.

As a side note: The gibson muffler has at least a 6 inch offset from inlet to outlet so if you went sans muffler, the replacement pipe would have to be custom bent.

'93 F150 XLT 2WD Supercab
5.0, AOD, K&N, Gibson
And SOON to be Superchipped!!!

If you decide to go with a flowmaster and want to sell your Gibson send me an e-mail. I'm looking for something other than OEM under my '92 4X4 but don't have the money to put into a cat-back system right now, gotta save for Christmas.
