What if I get rid of muffler
How loud would my '95 F150 300 I6 be is I saw out the muffler and put in a straight pipe, retaining the stock cats and stock tailpipe? Will it be as loud as a Flowmaster 40? 50? I know it won't sound like a Flowmaster, but it would only cost about 10 or 15 bucks.

one of my friends hollowed out his converter and runs a glasspack and it sounds like a dumptruck. it sounds good. i think i am gonna do this to mine it is a 1982 300. but if you have to have the cats for emissions i guess it would be hard to do but around here they dont check that they just look to see if everything is there.

Well I don't want the dump truck sound so I'll keep the cats. No testing here in Michigan (we still have a Republican governor). Besides, if I am going to increase the pollution output of my truck it has to be for a good reason and I am not doing anything that high performance to require that. But the straight pipe will be my plan as soon as the muffler rots out. May even turn it out the side in front of the wheel, if it is not loud enough. But when does the muffler rot out? My '84 F150 would eat a muffler every two years, but this thing looks original and has 80,000 miles on it and shows little sign of going south. Hmmm, maybe I could just do it and pass it off as a performance mod. Certainly should help fuel mileage with less back pressure.
