has anyone heard of people putting hyroden units on their trucks. if so what is a safe amount and how much does it help. i was thinking of building my own instead buying one.
if it helps these units are sometimes called HHO gas hits.
i'm pretty ambitious about it now after i checked my fuel milage today and only got 12.5
thats why i want to build my own for $30 rather than spend $900 on a kit. i was just wondering if anyone has tried it on a 7.3. If not, i'm not gonna be the first one to blow my engine trying it.
In the IDI forum there is a thread that is 50 some pages long. It tells how some built ther HHO generator, and how much that as to be produced per minute to do any good. Just search for HHO. Some interesting reading both pro and con.
Is there any proof in that thread of anyone ever having good results and proving it? I built one for a couple bucks and it produces a litre or so of gas a minute, but thats at 25-30 amps, and theres no way it can be efficient. I spent hours looking through and only found claims. Is there anyone who can say how they built it, how efficient it was, and then prove it?
You must adjust the motor timing when burning HHO. I'd like to say it's 'easy' on a Power Stroke since it's a computer controlled motor, just change the programming. But I know several that have tried running LP tunes with HHO and it still wasn't enough, still didn't run right. You need live tuning to get it adjusted correctly and the benefits are there. Just not a lot of people have followed through with it...
I've dabbled with HHO generator myself and it's not a scam. It's easy to produce gas, but getting the motor to burn it correctly is the challenge.
Just curious, but what do you have to do to the timing? I've heard claims that it implodes and produces a vacuum effect and then explodes, but I dont know who or what to believe. Do you have to advance or retard the timing or what? Not that I would try it, I just like to be educated on the subject.
