gas tank sending unit
the sending unit on my 76 f150 is not working reads empty, new sending unit good ground, new gauge and still dont work...I pull the sending unit out and wired and play whit the flaoter and the gauge work just fine soon it i drop the sending unit in to the thank quit working...HELP

Maybe you're out of fuel! Seriously, it could be that the float arm is too short. If you shake the float when you pull it out you should be able to hear gas in it if it's leaking. Make sure the sending unit is grounded when installed.

The float is made from two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.
Carpenter sells a one piece brass float for about 5 bucks that won't allow gas to seep in.
Float same: 1957/79 Passenger Cars/Trucks, 1961/79 Econolines & 1966/79 Bronco's.

I'm know i got some gas in my thank went i pull de sending unit out the first time i have gas spill all over my drive way so a least 1/4 thank in it, I'm realy confuse now...sending unit out put a ground cable directly from the thank to the fuel line in the sending unit and does the same thing automatic reads empty
