Question ?Line Pr. PSI?

i've heard alot about the fpr mod and how and when to do it. so i was wondering if my edge evolution programmer would tell me what the current pressure is.

i plugged it in and went to the data stream option. it gives the current rpms, engine oil temp, transd fluid temp, exhaust back pressure, and line pr. PSI. i don't know if this refers to the the fuel pressure. does anyone know.

anyway cruising at 70mph the reading for this was around 30 and with the petal to the metal it reached 71 at the highest point.

on another note the exhuast back pressure never got over 28 psi. is this good?

any input would be good.

Phil

The line pressure you are seeing is for the transmission not fuel pressure. The PCM doesn't measure Fuel pressure.

There is a schrader valve on the side of the filter housing. Use a fuel pressure gauge (tire gauge will work poorly in a pinch)

engine needs to be running to check fuel pressure.

i have a '97 and my truck did not come with a exhaust back pressure sensor . it must be aftermarket. califorinia model maybe?

it should have the sensor, its in one of 2 locations, the first is the way tj's shows and the other is center of motor on top of the water pump.

oh yeah sorry. You need to have the engine cranking or running., and Joe is right. two possible locations for the EBP sensor on the 97. Mine is the in the early 97 location.

Agreed. Mine is in the center and just in front of the HPO reservoir.
I recently had to replace my steel hose for the BP sensor. Look in my pics in my sig for more info. It took several attempts to get the hose for the late '97's. they only used it 1/2 year.

Got a question on the fuel pressure check, is it better to hook the gauge up to it then start or when already running or does it matter?

Also I have used my gauge on a gas engine, is it ok to use on the diesel also?

Last question, for now anyways, can someone direct me to a good post with directions and maybe pictures of the fpr bb mod? Thanks for any help.
