Well I haven't needed my truck in a couple of days, have started it everyday and let it warm up. The truck has been plugged in. Tried going out and starting it tonight and no start. The first time I cranked it over it started up and ran for 30 sec. then died. Now all it does is turn over, but will not start. Just replaced all glow plugs and relay and checked them out and they're working fine. Could I have gelled fuel? The fuel was a winter blend, and I had put some Power Service in it when I fueled it up last week. Thanks for any ideas. It has been frigid here the last couple of days and right now it's
-13 and that's without any windchill. Supposed to be in the -20's tonight so I'd like to get it started.
sounds liek a gel issue, wont be glow plugs since it fired up and ran for 30 seconds. remove the filter cover and see what the bowl looks like. my guess is the fuel heater worked on the bowl and it ran until the hot fuel was gone.
just replaced the fuel filter had new one in the garage. The old one didn't have any signs of gelling, the fuel in the bowl looked good. I am still going to get some 911 and try it. But it wont be until tomorrow when I can get that. Man this pisses me off Does the fuel heater work when the key is on only? Or does that work when the block heater is plugged in?
haven't seen any, my wife is pregnant and due in a month so I don't want her out here in the cold watching my tail pipe or in the truck cranking. I think I'm going to have my dad bring over a tube heater tomorrow and set in front of it, then have him give me hand.
To answer your question Stephen, Yes, the injectors would have some difficulty at first firing the injectors because the oil is thicker than molases. If your performing a lot of extreme cold starts I recommend switching to a syn 5-30. You'll notice a night and day difference with your cold starts.
Change your oil and get that Lucas out of there. It's not recommended for HEUI injector systems.
