Hi

Thanks for the invite. I'm Rich from Salem, CT. I have an overused and under appreciated Red Ford F350 dually 4X4 mason dump. I'll tell you some things that will make you cringe. I have never washed it except to get the chicken ***** out of the floor and pedels. I put salted sand in the back for the winter, hence the thin frame and new stainless steel bed in the dump. The only time I fix it is when she doesn't work. I have upgraded the brake lines to stainless steel. I have replaced some annoying International "O" rings, I hate these things, why, why, why do engineer insist on using them???? I'm 54 years old, and brought up on mid sixties muscle cars and love them. I have done some 4x4 off roading, hence the jeep project. I love rock and hard rock from the late 60s to present. I kill deer when ever I can, they are tasty. Sometimes I brew beer too. Sometimes I go to work for long hours (notice I didn't say I work long hours)!!! Enough for now!

Welcome to the CT Chapter, Rich. Head on over to the BS thread if you're ever bored.

We've got certain out of state dignitaries that drop by and they could talk the ears off a rock.

Hi there Rich, I missed your request to join the chapter.

30 year nuclear inspector eh, where was that?

I was new construction crew on the Jacksonville SSN-699 and I had a long career at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station.

Nice to meet you.

OK now. You asked, here it is. My resume.

Worked EB in Groton from 77 to 83
Nine Mile Point II new construction Lycoming NY 83 to 86
Grand Gulf nuclear plant in Mississippi 5 months in 86
James A Fitzpatrick Nuclear Power Plant = Just Another Freeking Nucear Power Plant in 87 (upstate NY)
Indian Point III for a refueling in 87
Palisades in Michigan in 87
Comanchee Steam Electric Station in TX in 87-88
Trojan in Oregon in 88 and 89
DC Cook in SW Michigan 9 months 88 to 89
Was hired for Northeast Utilities in 90 and been there ever since, but Dominion bought Millstone in 2001 still have seniority too.

I'm a mechanical, electrical, coatings, magnaflux, liquid penetrant and ASME VT 1-3 inspector. Also do fire stops and seals, and radwaste shipments.

That was really quite an adventure, but when the kids needed schooling we came back to Connecticut. And here I am. Boy did we learn something about diverse cultures. Ya'll come back now ya hear?

Rich:

I see you've been around.

Congrats that you survived the Dominion transition.

I was not so fortunate.

But in hind sight the job I have now is a vast improvement over what I had at Millstone.

I certainly couldn't be doing this from a job at Millstone, and the pay is much better I suspect.

Like everything in life, there are pluses and minuses. Overall, the big D has been good to us.
