does the temp move at all? or always 20 degrees off?
the other day mine started off at 20, the temp the night before and took 15 minutes to get up to 45 - the temp that morning. see if anything is hitting, blocking etc the end of the temp probe.
Mine is doing the same thing this year. Last year was perfectly in tune to whatever the local radio station said it was. Now it is accurate above 35 but below that it reads too high. For example, yesterday it was 0 outside and the temp read 26. the day before, the temp was 6 and it read 30.
I did replace the bumper, grille, header this year but I was careful to reattach all rubber Shields. I'm not sure either where the temp sensor is, but my best guess is it is the probe just behind the grille on the driver's side.
I'd love to find a fix for this, but I hate to just blindly order a new sensor if that isn't the problem.
The probe is behind the grill on the driver side. The bracket on mine broke and the sensor fell down against the radiator making it read hotter than it really was.
Those with manual controls have the ambient air temp displayed on the overhead console with the compass.
I have both automatic and manual controls on the dash, plus temp/fan settings on the wheel.
My readout on the HVAC console on the dash is spot-on.
My other read-out on the overhead console reads -40*F at all times, but doesn't seem to effect
my automatic climate control, which works great.
Most likely because it works off the cabin
sensor, and the OAT sensor that functions (and that they share?). The console being wrong is most likely a wire not attached or shorted, because I imagine that -40* is simply the "out of range" reading.
But I don't know.
