ext temp probe

the ext temp reading on our x is reading hotter than it should. I was wondering if anyone has had this happen. My thought was perhaps the probe has fallen down or is somehow in the wrong place.

Any help would be great,
Thanks!

Does it consistantly read incorrectly? I've noticed on mine, that it will read too hot or too cold until I start moving down the road. Then it reads pretty accurately.

You can look through the front grill to see if it is still in place.

It is located on the driver's side and mounted to the radiator support. It is cigar shaped and somewhat pointy on the end.

ON EDIT: Here' what the unit looks like. This picture, however, is from my old Expedition.

Thanks for the pic I'll go out and look for it. As far as the readings, my pickup is accurate once you start moving, but the excursion is actually worse when you start moving thus the reason I think the sensor is in the wrong place. My excursion had a front end collision in 2004 (according to the car fax report).

Edit: Just checked it out, found the sensor had fallen between the a/c condensor and the radiator. the mount had a broken tab. I put a dab of silicone on it and slid it back on we'll see how it works.

Thanks for information!!
