Driving an '04 Excursion EB with 6.0L, 166,000 miles. I have MBRP 4" cat delete exhaust,AFE Stage 2 air,Spartan SCT tunes(currently an economy from the old archives) and an old 1000 model Edge monitor that I use for gauges only. Thats what the question is about. The EGTs go crazy high at idle according to the Edge. I can pull in the driveway let it idle for couple minutes and the EGTs immediately start to rise. I mean from the 7-800s of normal driving to as high as 1900 if I don't shut it off. No apparent difference in the way it runs or the oem gauges. Anyone clue me in on what is going on or about to happen? I have not checked for codes yet. It is due an oil change but not way over due.
Thanks
If your truck idles at 7-800* something fishy is going on. What type of mpg are you getting? I would first try it on the stock tune and if it is the same as it is now then the edge would have to go. The truck will de fuel if egt's are held at the 1350* for about 5 minutes have you ever noticed it happen when you were getting the 1900* readings?
Sorry for the confusion. I meant that driving 60-70 mph the typical egt is 7-800.
Normally the idle egt was low 400s when I stopped and would start falling to mid 300s when I shut it down. My thoughts are the old Edge is losing it and it is time to get real gauges. Just wondered if anyone had this problem happen due to the EGT probe in the exhaust or the connections. Thanks
