Just picked up a 2001 7.3l with 100k miles on it last weekend. It's a great runner with an Edge Tuner installed with a high flow pipe and K&N intake but the pesky alarm/buzzer keep sounding. It starts as soon as the key is turned on and only stops when any signal lights or brake lights are turned on or once the truck is at cruise speed. Also the check engine light comes on when I really "walk-on-it" and get the revs above 2500...not sure if it's related to the buzzer staying on.It'll be going to the shop for an engine diagnostic next week but wondering if there's anything I can do first.
Do you have the edge with the incab monitor? It has diagnostic capabalities. What kind of K&N filter do you have? I hope it's not a drop-in replacement. Not real sure why the alarm is on and goes off when using signals. Some more guys will be along with mnore help for you. Welcome to FTE. The check engine light could be due to the HPOP not keeping up with the fuel delivery your asking for. I know my check engine light will come on when I stay in it too long. Pull some codes on that thing and get back with us.
Thanks for the quick reply fellas. It does have an in-cab monitor and the 'back-down' function so I suspect it's not the stock alarm. Don't have the manual for the Edge so I'll see if I can figure it out. Will also try getting some codes out of it...may need some help on how to accomplish that??
There is different versions of the incab monitor. Mine doesnt have the defuel option or buzzer. With the truck running hit the menu button on the edge monitor. and it should bring up a screen with diagnostics option, press enter there when you have it highlighted and it will ask retrieve or clear codes highlight retrieve and press enter. Should take just a few second and it will pull them up. The check engine light has to be on before it will pull any codes just like any other code reader(execpt soft codes). You may want to return the truck to stock and see what it does. The above statement is how my edge evolution works. Not sure how the juice and it's monitor works. Hope this helps.
Pretty sure that alarm you're hearing is on your Edge, nothing factory. The check engine light is because you don't have a boost fooler. Anytime you get over like 22psi your truck will "de-fuel" and throw a code. It's a MUST with a DP-Tuner, it's called an OBA
Yep, you guys are on the money. Got through reading the manual online and they said the fueling function will cause the engine light to come on. I reset the function on the edge to stock and took it for a long hard ride with no check engine light...hurrah. Alarm is still going off constantly unless the rear lights come on...signal, 4ways or brake.
I had no manners earlier Steve.....WELCOME TO FTE! Glad you figured out your check engine light problem. No clue about your alarm thing, maybe sell the Edge and get a DP Tuner?
Come to think of it the truck also has a little electronic thingy with a flashing blue light on it above the sunvisor, maybe it has an alarm rigged to it...will start tracing wires from it tomorrow.
Managed to narrow it down to #24 10 amp fuse in the main fuse box under the instrument cluster, seems it's related to the "blend motor " for the heater but when I pulled the fuse the ABS lite came on. Anyone have a wiring diagram to narrow down the buzzer related to fuse #24...sounds like it's coming from behind the radio/heat controller.
