This is very, very unfortunate and my thoughts and prayers go out to the man's family.

I am steering clear of any kind of store today. I swear, my truck has a giant target painted on it that says "Attention all soccer moms driving Yukons, please run into me."

I almost got arrested at a store went to get my daughter and grandkids some games as they were buy one get one free and when I went to register they said the games I picked were not buy one get one free but only 20% off. I showed them THEIR flier only to be told I wasnt reading it right. when I told them their signs all said BOGO I was told I wasnt reading them right and when I asked if the manager would go with me to the toys so I could show here she said she didnt have time to cater to my whims so I went back and took every sign from in front of their games section as well as the 2 foot by 2 foot sign on top of aisle game dispaly and took them to manager at registers and put them on her kiosk desk and said now insult my intelligence and reading ability further. She called police. Long story short I got all the games I wanted as BOGO when officer told them they read it same way. I got huge apology and 1 game for free. Will still write letter to corp office.
I broke to pressure and went to wal mart this morning to get a drill and a few things for my grandaughter. Hmmm sale was from 5-11 was there at 5:05 in store and wouldnt you know every drill was already gone? All the toys I wanted etc. One lady bought 20 of the drills. Guess what will be on ebay this afternoon? Same with toys. One couple bought almost all the My Size Barbies. (not "my size" as that would be outrageous but that is what they are called) same with everything ons ale. A lot of people were pissed ebcause there were people taking as many as they could for resale purposes and those waiting, just wanting to buy for their kiddo were left out. pretty sad. Heard that went on at Kmart and Target as well. I just got my 2.00 movies and paper shredder and left.

Now on to the Austin statement...I care! i do not know this person who was killed but we are supposed to be a civilized society. How can we be proud of living in a country where a drill or toy is worth more than a human life? I watched this morning as women were literally FIGHTING over those ugly as hell croc clogs. Fighting! people were cussing each other over the WIIs. People were waiting for a "lucky" shopper to turn their back and then taking things out of their carts. I just kept to myself and shook my head in disbelief. I really wish I had of followed my own heart and head and stayed home. But i really wanted to have that dang drill for 25.00 lol I saw people cussed out, rammed with carts, had items taken from their carts, take things from peoples carts, lay blankets overtheir items in carts to keep others from seeing what is in there husbands were brought along as cart guards, It was awful. I had not seen that much anger and snot flying in a "bull pen" at a rodeo as I did at wal mart this morning. I bow my head in shame for feeling the need to save a few bucks I allowed myself to be in this crap. But I am thankful just the same I would never stoop so low as to behave like that no matter what where or why.

Why shop today? Its not like every year there aren't sales leading up until Christmas? They aren't all this weekend. Matter of fact, with the sales slump this year the bargains are only going to get better the closer we get to Christmas.

The comments about "I trampled" them... just par for the course of the continued 1 liner snippy responses that will eventually lead to the door.....

There is no deal worth the chaos of Black Friday. People standing in line for hours, camping out front of a store in the cold, just to save a few dollars. The crazy's running, trampling, beating others because a store advertises some item, for cheap and of course they have only a few of that item, but they have 100 of the same identical item with a different UPC so they can say that is a different item.

I believe Ken is absolutely right. Good deals will get better the closer to Christmas, and perhaps even better after. I believe the best deals are yet to come.

Amen to that! Last year close to 75% of my Christmas shopping was online. No hassles with line, rude shoppers, indifferent clerks, etc. I pay for shipping but don't pay for sales tax and come out better. This year my goal is 100% online for Christmas.

I also feel bad for the guy and his family...it's a crying shame that saving a few bucks has cost a man his life. Not to mention, I believe the article said it was a temp job...what a shame, the guy probably needed a few extra bucks to make his family's Christmas a little better and some idiots took his life.
No doubt what was probably a tough situation is about to turn into a desperate situation.

I wonder how they'll figure out who was to blame.
Hopefully they had the cameras rolling!

This event was over in your neck of the woods I see. From what the article did say, it may be gang related, or at least something not involving a fight over a toy. That remains to be seen though.

I'm sure Jesus Christ is proud of how we celebrate his birthday.

Will it ever end,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The only reason I even left the house today in a vehicle is because I had to work......Black Friday is a great day to catch up on some zzzzz (if you're on a day off) while the animals fight over the retail carcass......

Positively disgusting. As I read the article procided in the link it was hard to notice the picture just prior to the death.........no manners 20 something men. I see it in todays society that the younger crowd have ZERO manners and no how to function is a civilized manner. I see kids scream and holler with parents talking on cell phones.....20 year olds running through malls smacking into people....guys and gals yelling over people to talk to their friends 100 feet away.

I grit my teeth and have to hold back my hands because I really want to smack thiese people.

A total ambarrasment for this country. What will happen in twenty years?

Black Friday is totally insane. I feel bad for that person/family. Stuff like this is un-called for. Saving a few bucks isn't worth someones life and the other accidents that happen every year. If I do go shopping on Black Friday, it's usually just in the afternoons when all the insanity is done with. One of the benefits from today was that the Clinic in my town was slow and I was able to take my son in for an appointment at the last minute.

You have no idea how tempted I was to send this kid a red square for posting this. At the very least it shows poor taste and insensitivity, and at worst shows a blatant disregard for human life. Either end of the spectrum makes me just plain sick.

Cant agree more Farm. I am appalled that he was allowed to say that and get away with it. Kid or not. Just way wrong. But it shows what happens when kids are left to raise themselves ie on computer in adult and fantasy worlds 24/7 with no supervision. They lose touch with human compassion.
He needs to work at a homeless shelter for his holidays or work at the morgue for a few days.
