Can anyone tell me the stock locations of switches and buttons in the F1? I know the starter button goes all the way to the left and then I believe it is the light switch. What is next before the starter switch?

If you have a hole between your headlight switch and your steering column (and I don't remember if this was an option on 48-50) it's for a "Throttle Cable" which was like a pull gas pedal. I have one but mines a 51.
On the heater "panel" - the triangular one, from 10 o'clock moving clockwise it was "Defrost;" then the Motor Speed Switch; "Temp;" and on the bottom, "Air." That was for a Fresh Aire Heater.
J!
PS. Hey Bob...couldn't help but notice you have the white ***** on your MA heater control panel. I put a 52 heater in mine because Denny is making the boot now. But I liked the 50 control panel better than the bar panel in the 51/51. Question, were the white ***** stock on 48-50? I replaced mine with 51 ***** and I use 56 bezels all around...here's a picture!
If you have overdrive or electric tilt hood here's another way to mod one of those panels for a 48-52.
Thanks all. I wanted to use stock ***** for the 48-50 but my light switch is a 53-56 and I don't think the stock light **** and shaft will fit. Anyone ever swapped the metal shaft?

Oh sure!
Your light switch is 53-55 which was almost exactly the same as 48-52. 56 is way different.
My light switch is 56 because I run 12 volt and want the inst light dimmer to work. All the light switches have removeable ****/shaft combinations, the shaft is cast into the ****, it's not a part of the switch and they are all interchangelabe!
Tee hee - big secret..Shhh! On the picture I attached above, where I show the "Throttle Cable" with the "T" on the ****. Well, that's stock in appearance as a "Throttle Cable." But actually that is a second headlight switch I use to turn on and off my fog, fender, and hood ornament lights. *****, shafts and letters all mixed up.
All of the ***** on my dash are stock. The Magic Air heater came with the cab I took off of a '48 F-7 fire truck that had 3000 miles. I assumed that the heater was retrofitted after the truck was on the road for a while. Maybe the local fire department didn't order the heater when the truck was new thinking they used the truck so little they didn't need a heater but a short time later they decided to have one installed. The truck came with the '51-52 under fender air duct so I don't think it had the original type '48-50 heater because those had the blower motor under the fender, very bad idea, worse than the tube itself.

Yep that duct was something, and putting a blower out in the fender was a gem wasn't it?
I pondered long and hard on how to rig my Magic Air to a fresh air source with my full front tilt. I was thinking about some kind of saddle for the tube or running something down through the floor.
What I've decided to do, is mount a shortened 49 Studebaker fender vent onto the mid side cowl just above the fender turn. I've already modified the vent and made a new frame for it. I was going to braze it on this week, but like most everything this week, I havent started with it yet. I'll make it cable operated from the passenger side dash, Here is a picture of what I have so far.
I'll take lots of pictures during the mod for everyone. Might start Friday!
Hey AJ
I'll say you pondered long and hard.
I remember when this was discussed over on HotRodders Forum or some such place. Hmm wasn't in on that - but would like to have been. Never done Hotrodders or Bousbuilt for that matter. Might have been here, I have mentioned it before. People stealing my inventions?...gotta link?
Wait----Maybe its me thats confused -- AJ -Son--AJ--Julie-- Black Helicopters -- Satalite Photos.
Oh Heck Does it really matter?
Tee hee - what a KOOKE! Yes it's you who is confused (of course why should you be any different than anyone else)
Hint Dick: Did your mother ever call you "Richard" when she was mad at you?
Ya never had this wierd group all together in one of your threads.
I guess the best way to explain is this is an exercise in Mental Maintenance, without tools.
Thanks fo rthe reply and the great photo. I think the boot fo rthe heater is on the other side and what the screws hold.
I'll figure something out...maybe even a vent door from an old Studebaker that opens out, or something bizzare like that!
Thanks again
Dan
Wow your truck looks great! They are so nice when they are all done!
I've been working on mine for two years. I'm a retired Navy pilot/single dad/self employer contractor. So, it's the same old restoration story with me as everyone else - all it takes is time and money.
I have been refurbishing all teh components myself. I've redone everything including my heater. I've completely rewired and restored the dash. I just finished my drive train - a Ford FE 390 With Police Interceptor Crank and pistons, and all Cobra Jet Top end. I've got a newly rebuilt C6 and a 9 3/8 rear geared at 2.79 to 1.
I had a lot of challenges getting shift to work (leaving in the stock shift and column) with the big tranny, getting throttle linkages to work and designing an exhaust system. Too much engine and not enough room.
Anyway, I'm about to pull of the box to redo and I'm working on redesigning the "apparatus" that tilts my clip up.
If I can figure out how to do it, I'll send a couple photos.
The little bit I use my heater I didn't hook up the under fender tube. I just suck air from inside the cab and recirculate it. I don't see a problem with doing this.
