Hi ford folks, can anyone help me to workout how to wire up the starter push button on my 1952 ford f1. The truck must of had the ignition switch replaced at some time, as the switch that is fitted has four posts and the original switch only had three posts. I can wire the switch so that the truck will start with the ignition key , but I cannot find out how to make it start with the ignition switch turned on and pushing the starter button. The starter button has two wires coming of it, where do these connect to make it work ?.
Many thanks.
The Gruffalo
The original Ford wiring has the starter button Hot all the time. "May" be a safety concern. It can be fed right off the 15 amp circuit breaker right next to the button.

the key switch on start mode is hot all the time also. So even if the engine is running and you turn the switch from run to start, the starter will engage. Same thing if you push the button while it is running.
In simplest of terms, you want to cut the "ST" (starter) wire from the existing 4-position switch and connect it to one side of the new start pushbutton. The other side of the start pushbutton gets connected to "battery". Since I don't know whether you have 6v/12v or +/- ground system, I have left the markings on this generic diagram as is.
