I have a 2004 F-350 SC Diesel. Getting close to 60,000 miles and I started checking owners manual for maintaince. It spelled out to change tranny fluid and external filter(roll of paper) at 60,000 miles. Question is when does the internal filter get changed.
Thanks
I changed my internal, but only because it had 74k when I got it and I had no idea if or when it had been serviced. My dad had his internal filter changed with a fluid flush at 55k and the internal screen was clean as can be. I'd say don't worry about it unless you've ever had tranny problems.
I did my 06' F-350 six-O,TS tranny at 33k,,pull the drain plug,,drop the pan,,was nice and clean inside, new screen and the inline filter,,,the screen is kinda hard to see inside it,,,more like a tube(unless u cut it open),,but the inline filter,,was rather dark,,so It does work.
I beleive I purchased 14qts SP,,I think it took about 9 qts to change it,,by dropping the pan,,I would have to check my records though.
X2 on the 9 qts. Interesting on the internal filter. I also changed mine as I didn't know if/when it had been changed, I think I'll do the same as Cartmanea said- change external filter and drain/ refill in 10k.
If I recall correctly, the manual calls for external filter at 15,000 and tranny flush at 30,000. I have been doing the external filter every 10,000. Cheap ins. even though the filter is not cheap.
