Exclamation Keyless entry

I have an 02 F250 XLT, for some reason my keyless entry keychain key pad dropped out or the interior tansmitter? I replaced the battery in the keychain pad but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks if advance.

Do your power door locks still work? When mine went through this, I lost power door locks. My VSM shorted and died during an oil change.

If you still have power door locks, try reprogramming your remotes. I believe the process is hold the lock button on the door, turn the key on/off 10 times. Then the locks should cycle, then you press a button on each of your transmitters.

Door locks

Thanks for helping out, yes, the power door locks still work when I depress the switch on the arm rest. I'll try re-programming the remote.

Cool something is wrong

I found another posting in regards to resetting the remote, I tried it but it didn't work. After performing the reset and I click one of the remote buttons, I hear an odd noise that sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment. it's hard to explain using text but it sounds like a slight grinding noise or what the fuel pump sounds like when it's priming.

Maybe that was the vacuum pump priming up the hubs after you reconnected the battery? New battery in the remote, tried reprogramming, and still no effect. I would try programming them to another vehicle with the keyless working to verify they are transmitting before going to ford to have the VSM checked.

Should I have disconnected the battery before programming the remote? the post on this forum didn't mention that.

It shouldn't matter, the code should be erased when you entered programming code. You can always try it, but it shouldn't make a difference.

OK, I'll give it another shot tomorrow. What were you talking about when you mentioned an WSM or something like that before I take it to a Ford dealership? Thanks for helping out.

VSM, Vehicle Security Module. It handles the keyless entry and power door locks. If the transmitters are transmitting, then you must have a problem receiving or the receiver isn't communicating with the rest of the module.
