Keyless entry on the door???

I have an 03 Super Duty that doesn't have the keypad on the door. I was told that it is easy to add to my truck though. A guy told me that all you do is get the pad and stick it on the door then it programs like programing a keyless remote on your keychain. Is this true? Does anyone know the part number and price for the pad? I would love to have this.

My local dealer has those for $159 installed I think. Ask the parts counter. Most parts folk will answer your questions.

There has to be more to it than that. Otherwise anyone could just walk up to any truck and open it with one of these.

it is a keypad with a security code but it programs like a keyless entry remote.

you have to push in the 5 digit code for the doors to unlock.

Would one of these work for my truck? I had a Ford factory keyless entry installed on my truck not too long ago. It didn't come from the factory that way but I bought an OEM kit off eBay and had someone install it. Works great. I thought the keypad would be a cool addition to my truck if it would work for me. What do you think?

i was going to install one of those wireless units, but it's my understanding that it will not unlock the truck while it is running. i would like to be able to lock while the engine is on so i can run into the store etc....

I have the keyless entry on my 2004 F250 and I cannot lock the truck with the key in the ignition. It just keeps unlocking itself. Is there a way to disable this feature?

I have same truck and mine locks with the key in the ingnition, unless a door is open. Are you closing the door first?

I just recently put the keypad on my truck. Works great, easy to do. My truck locks fine with the keypad, with my key in the ignition or with my turbo timer on and key removed. I just have to have the door closed, otherwise it unlocks immediately. Great feature, just get out, close the door, hit the 7-8 9-0 keys at the same time and its locked up. Makes it easy to set the time to cool down, put the keys someplace, get out, lock up and walk away.

i was told that it would do everything the keyless transmitter would do. my keyless transmitter will not operate at all while the key is in the ignition in run or accessory.

my hardwired factory keypad on my explorer will work while the explorer is running or on accessory.

if the add on wireless keypad will operate while the truck is running, i need to get one! i may have been given bad info.

skilawyer, I would have to say that if your key fob doesn't work like that now, then this keypad won't either. I just went out and tested my key fob, with the truck running, it will lock the doors and unlock them. Same with my keypad. You need to test your fob, or reset your fob before you spend the money on the keypad to make sure it does what you want it to. I know there are alot of variances for some reason between the early to 2001 models, and the 2002, and then a difference between the 2003 and 2002. For info, when you get the keypad it gives you directions on programming the receiver in the truck to accept the keypad, and you must get the receiver to recognize your fobs at the same time. They will operate the same.

3L2Z-14A626-AA Keyless entry keypad kit 119.99

This is the same part number that the dealship gave me for the part. My keyfob will lock/unlock while running and the remote pad is supposed to do the same.
