pinging 3.0
I designed a circuit that sends a signal to the computer signaling "10 percent ethanol 70 degrees", which is the normal ethanol percentage in the pumps. I am 100 percent sure the circuit I made has nothing to do with the problem.
I'll give the links another read and try to get a baseline. Thanks for all the help!
The 2000 Rangers flex fuel sensor measures the fuels tempeature, conductivity, dielectric constant & outputs a variable duty cycle signal to the computer, that should fall within the parameters in chart two. So make sure your mod is really fooling the computer, maybe it isn't!!!!???? http://www.babcox.com/editorial/us/20628.pdf
Check the O2 sensors switching speed.
Pull & clean the MAF sensor with a non residual spray cleaner, like CRC MAF Sensor Spray Cleaner, or check it's output to the computer.
Make sure you have the proper heat range spark plugs & their properly gaped.
Double check the above systems for vacuum leaks & proper operation. If you haven't already done it, replace the PCV valve, as it's past due at 150K miles
By then you should have a good idea of the vehicles overall health & maybe have found the root cause of your ping problem.
Keep us posted of your findings.
I do know my sensor mod is good though. I designed it using the aldata specs for ouput. I used an oscilloscope to make sure the signal was correct, then put it in the truck and read it with a scanner to make sure it was the same. It is showing pretty much dead on the signal for 10% ethanol.
