Yes I did all the work in my garage. I do not like the weight of the rockwell and while yes under a huge truck the whole top loader looks cool, i dont like the look for under my truck, another reason around here there are plenty of guys runnin rockwells under there offroad toys but I've seen only one 14 bolt front and its under my truck
I put a 4x4 axle under my 2x2 f350 a couple of weeks ago and it was easy. drives pretty good too. as soon as i find a manual t-case ill put it in and let u know how it goes
9k sounds like bull honkey. I can buy a front and rear axle (stockers yes) for 1400 in san antonio, and i see transfer cases on ebay for 3-400 all the time. doesn't anyone remember divorced transfercases? having a pro shop fab the mounts cant be more than 500...
so where's the cost? keep in mind, sales tax on a 10000 dollar truck is worth some money also, so i really don't know where the expense is....
Sorry for not being here for the input. Been busy. I have got it put together but the 4WD switch will not signal through the GEM (Generic Equipment Module). Don't want to by pass the module but may have to for now.
Gona make your own bumper, cause anyone can buy one? Gimme a break, once you post a pic of your truck and the mods done to it I'll be able to buy a bunch of junk off the internet and have the exact same truck as you
If you want to be original you should create some test tube babies or something.
Don't mean to sound like a ***** lol, but in these tough economic times I'd think you'd have something better to spend your money on

Reason: oops
BSF350...did you take pics of the conversion? seriously considering doing this myself?!...as far as the GEM not getting the signal, i was under the assuption you needed to switch out the the pcm b/c yours is set up for a 2wd. i could be wrong? just my $.02. very interested in seeing pics tho. dont be bashful...lol.
me and a couple of buddies put a front end in my truck this past saturday, there really is nothing to it, i dont have a tranfercase/driveshafts yet but if you can find a deal on axles like i did i say go for it, i ended up paying about 520 bucks for a set of 04 F-350 axles complete with steering and front hangers.
