when your truck is gonna get 500K does it really matter???

I would look at trading trucks before trading components

Lets base a reply on what you just said. On the long run I might put 10K a year on a second truck. If I get a truck with 40K more miles than I already have, isn't that taking 4 years off it usefulness.

? how many times have you got 500K from your truck? I but 400K on one of mine and it takes a lot more then a motor to reach that point.

Well then what about a winch? I could put a winch on it for less than a grand. Any one I should look out for?

I don't know about less then a grand unless you get some no name harbor freight style winch.

Get a good brushguard with a mount and then get a nice Warn or Ramsey winch w/ a pulley.

Its been awhile since i posted on the site and the reason is I have been wrapped up in this Exact conversion on my 2000 F250 and TRUST me its ALOT of work but I got it done. Your talking full dismantle of entire front end and front suspension (we pulled fenders and front grill off for better access) then entire front suspension dismantle of donor truck. Once all is good, blank, and clean up front, time to pull trans (i have a 6 speed so slightly different) once all this is out of the way you can then begin fabbin up you leaf mounts, better be straight and true or your drive angle will be screwed (this involves settin up front pinion angle and centering you axle). I am in the process of putting together a full post with pics and all. mine was a little different as I used a corprate 14 bolt (a rear axle we converted to a front) and a dual transfer case set up (np203and 205) so expect a post within the next month on my entire excapade.

Is a new warn m8000 for $600 not a good winch. And I plan on building my own front bumper, any body can buy one.

On the conversion. Like to see your writeup. Why didn't you use the factory spring mounts in the factory pre drilled holes?

It is only work if you make it that. I am a welder by trade, I am not afraid of work, I can lay down right next to it.

Did you know ford wants $6.75 for a lug nut. There are 32 of them.

it's a good winch, but not enough. I wouldn't get less than a 12000, and still get a pulley.

remember, these trucks are heavy- twice as bad when stuck.

I'd really like to see that 4x4 conversion. Sounds really cool. Do you have a rough estimate of what the total cost was?

How 'bout converting a 4-door truck to a Bronco instead? Have a look:

I REALLY love the truck and it was a personal accomplishment to have the best and strongest four wheel drive that can be built (imo). Now I have a huge front axle with a wicked strong ring gear its pinion gear is also very strong, front and rear selectable lockers, I have a crap load of gear options and ranges and an old 83 chevy 1 ton dually without a rear end that i now need to find something to do with.

It's a conversion called a Centurion done by a company of the same name. Google turns up many hits:
