ABS Module
HELP!!!
I have a 2000 X XLT V10, about 125k. Recently, the battery started draining if the truck sat for 2 or more days. Then, the ABS idiot light came on. Finally, the speedometer stopped working. I took it to my local mechanic and he replaced the speed sensor (abs light went out) but said the GEM module was bad and had to be replaced by Ford. Dealer says GEM is ok but I need an ABS module to the tune of $1,100 or so installed ($900 something for the part.)
Has anyone else had this experience? Is this module available aftermarket, and is it real difficult to install? I'd really like some advice before I shell out that kind of coin.
