After researching I have come to the conclusion that my windsheild seal may be leaking and causing my problems. (radio turning off/ on, power locks clicking up and down, washer fluid lighting up, abs lighting up and 4x4 lighting up) at random. I am thinking about resealing the windsheild and replacing the fuse block and GEM module. Are they difficult to replace? Do I need to have the GEM module reprogrammed in a 2001 if its used from the same make and model? Reprogrammed if its a new one? Thanks
I would start by just fixing the windshield. BTW, have a glass shop do it instead of trying to do it yourself. They have the experience to fix this problem right the first time. Once the windshield is fixed and the leak stops, the GEM will have time to dry out and your problems could go away. It's going to cost you $600+ to do the GEM and $200+ for the fuse box plus labor, and you might not need new ones.
After some time to dry in the garage with the battery disconnected the main electrical glitches have stopped. I am making an appointment to have the windshield looked at. However now my ABS light is on and stays on. Any thoughts? We disconnected the battery because you could hear clicking at the drivers side wheel well. I know thats where the fuses and Gem is located in the dash but is something else with brakes near there as well? Preparing for the worst hoping for the best!
