I have been told that my GEM module is bad and needs to be replaced. I have had a couple of people tell me that it isn't worth buying an aftermarket Module as they just don't work, even though they are half the price.
I have also been told that this is not a do it yourself project as the module needs to be programmed once installed which needs to be done by dealer or independent shop that has the software.
Thanks Alloro, but that does not answer my question. I have found the part in multiple locations.
I need to know if the module needs to be programmed once installed and if the car will run/operate normally until I get it programmed if it needs to be programmed?
If it is a used one with the exact part number the programming should match what you already have and no further programming should be necessary. If you buy a new one then it will have to be programmed. But in either case, if you so desire side with caution and have the replacement programmed to match your existing one.
