replacment speedometer
Hi
I have been searching for some sort of replacment speedometer I need a new face and all, just wondering if someone has found a company or a place where I would be able to find something that works. I am not married to staying stock but I would just like something that would be a bolt in replacment.

Now it would really help if you'd state for Which of your trucks this would be for?
A pet peeve of mine & quite a few others have brought this up before in the past, List the year of you truck in the Header you are wishing to discuss, so if it's not listed in you Sig. or there are multiple listings such as yours, It's a real time saver if one does this.
There are several companies out there that do this type of thing, rebuild & the restoration of Speedos. There a business local to me that does just that he did a marvelous job rebuilding my original Speedo, for around $ 100.00 as I recollect.

Ok if you are talking about the vehicles you have listed in your profile, the 47 is a no go on something off the shelf - you would have to have it rebuilt in a shop if you can find one and faces redone by a lettering shop. I have seen somewhere that gauge faces are available for the 49 but I'm not sure about the speedometer.
All the restoration parts houses have the 51 and 52 Speedometer (which were the same) because they were used in some delivery into the 70s or something. The 57 thru 69 very doubtful. You might try e-bay for one.
Although if he knew specifically what you were looking for (like the Col. said) I'd be willing to bet that "Number Dummy" could find you one somewhere in one of his POCs for obsolete parts - maybe.

i know where there's a 49 3/4 ton sitting here in springpatch rusted down and goin' to h-l- . if i can remember i'll swing over by on the pretense of getting the heater core flushed out for the 53 { it's at the other radiator shop here in town } and see if i can look and talk the guy out of it reasonably . he thinks the stuff he has is worth a fortune . b-j-itis ya know .

i wandered over to where the truck i speak of is , and got me a deal on cleaning out all three heater cores , two 53's and the d-dg- d50 mini truck unit that is gonna be replacing it , and asked if i could take a look at the trucks . two 56 f 350's and the 49 3/4 ton . there isn't anything on them worth saving unforetunately . the gauge ? gauges on all of them had the glass broken out and the speedo indicators bent or broken off , and our enemy rust had begun to eat them away . i'll keep an eye out though . does the 50 and 51 use the same setup ? got a guy i know who has a 50 or 51 in many peices he's turning into a hot rod and he's been disposing of a lot of the oe stuff . i could ask him if he still has 'em if they would work .

But here is an interseting note. Although my brand new speedometer came in a new pretty box with labeled with Ford Logos, the guy at the speedometer shop told me it was not even Americal made - and certainly not at Ford. Interesting!
