Speedometer Cable Replacement 1990 Bronco Ii

How do I change the speedometer cable ? Does anything need to be done under the dash, or can it just be disconnected at the firewall ?

If your cruise control is also not working, you probably just need to remove the VSS/vehicle speed sensor from the side of the trans & replace the broken plastic gear.

Been there & done that 2 times on my 87.

For an automatic, have to remove the speedometer, squish cable end to remove from the head. Then remove from transfer case, and pull down. Standard is a bit more complicated if you have cruise, same procedure though.
