stacking programmer and chips?
I know that is correct on the transmission issue, but like I said I want a DP and then have pretty cheap set of gauges. Have a great day all.

By adding the attitude to the juice , all you have done is raised the ICP pressure, you are not stacking anything.

The Edge EZ is also not a chip/programmer stack. The EZ is an expensive ICP fooler. You can make your own for less than a dollar at Radio Shack.
The Evolution is a programmer, and it is the only thing that Edge sells that actually plugs into the PCM.
If you buy a chip say from DP-Tuner, Tony Wildman, TS, etc, it does way more than the Edge Juice/Attitude combination. Chips can control ICP, fuel pulsewidth, transmission shift points, transmission line pressure, injection timing, torque converter lockup, throttle tip in, and way more that I haven't even figured out yet. You tell the tuner what you want, and they can program it on the chip. The Edge Juice/Attitude doesn't even come close. The Evolution will do a few of those things, but it will not give you the transmission tuning that a chip can deliver. Also every tune from Edge is a canned generic setting. You can't modify them for your specific truck, driving style, modifications, etc.
If you want Edge products to get many of the performance features that a chip can deliver, consider this. You would have to buy the Juice with Attitude, and the Evolution... totalling around $1260 for everything. If you buy a chip and gauges, you're looking at around $700. And a well tuned chip will hands down deliver more power and faster times at the track. Really well tuned chips will deliver this extra power and keep EGT's lower than Edge can. This isn't just Edge either. Banks also has a very similar setup, for very similar prices. Again, you can see where the real value can be found.
Hopefully now you see why so many people with Powerstrokes recommend ditching programmers and "stackable" boxes in favor of a chip. It's cheaper, and you get better results.
Now I know the next question that will pop up.... "What if I stack the Edge Juice w/Attitude with a chip? Those don't cancel each other out." While true, you could technically stack that with a chip, it's pretty much a waste of money. If you really need more ICP pressure, it can be accomplished with the chip tuning. About the only benefit you would ever see might be if you really really want automatic defueling when EGT's get too high. If that's the case, you're probably driving in the wrong tune at the wrong time. EGT's can be very easily controlled with good chip tunes.
The Edge Juice (with or without the Attitude monitor) and Edge Evolution are two different animals.
The Edge Juice is a glorified 10K mod that intercepts the voltage signal from the Injection Control Pressure sensor. It sends out a corrupt signal to the PCM (engine computer) and the PCM makes an Injection Pressure Regulator duty cycle change to raise the pressure that the High Pressure Oil Pump puts out. Is that bad? Heck no, people have been doing that for years and years.....and IT WORKS!! Well, it works to make a more responsive throttle and a little more power. The transmission suffers a bit though because the shift points and line pressure values are based on the accelerator pedal position....if it's now at a lesser value, the shifts occur earlier AND softer.
Here's where the Evolution programmer comes in. The programmer will upload a new set of operating parameters into the existing PCM memory. This programming acts differently than the stock programming does when it "sees" specific inputs. The programmer WILL firm up shifts by raising pressure. It's a small preventive measure to help with transmission life and performance-feel of the shifts. It also will add fuel above what the factory programming is set for. Add this to the increased ICP of the Juice and they work OK together.
The problem is that Edge capitalized on selling the consumer TWO SEPARATE items that could have easily been packaged in the Evolution (ICP tables can be raised in programming very easily) but since you only realize the FULL potential of the Edge products when used together, you spend twice as much for the same performance of other off-the-shelf programmers.
you guys were separated at birth..or something. it slows me down every time I am forced to look at it.
