powersteering noise!

gotta 1997 psd and i think the powersteering pump is making a winding noise-does anyone know what it could be- also when i have my plow on when first go to turn its hard for just a second!

Check the fluid level. If its full it could just be a tired pump. With a snow plow on it will be harder to turn the wheel as its alot more weight on a already heavy front end.
