Is this something for the stock/non-tuner trucks as well?

On the stock 6.0L it does a nice job on getting rid of the bottom end lag on acceleration, on the 7.3L it will do nothing with out a tuner installed.

Tip: With the problems associated with the variable turbos in the 6.0L, opening them up to max boost once in a while is the best thing for them. Lots of city driving will never allow the vanes to open all the way up and will eventually cause them to stick.
I understand that the VGT has to be run like a rented mule now-and-then to keep it exercised, and I've never had a problem doing that. My concern is that the 6.0 VGT has no wastegate... So what's the deal?
Will it cause over-boost or not?
The wastegate argument has to be thrown out on this one.

I was wondering the same thing, and would like to understand more about this issue before making a purchase.

Sorry if I crossed my thread here, correct the 6.0L is non wastegate, that only applies to the 7.3L. The 6.0L will de-fuel electronically through the computer not be opening a wastegate

I am sure your concerns with over boosting are head gasket related and for a good reason, the head gaskets are a big job on the 6.0L!

Running the boost builder on a stock truck to increase the bottom end performance will not jeopardize the head gasket b/c the stock motor will not make enough boost to pop a head gasket.

On a 6.0L with a 100HP+ chip installed the truck will be able to make enough boost with the boost fooler installed to pop a head gasket. If the truck is driven responsibly it will be fine, it you the abuse the power and try to drive the truck like a race car, that can pop a head gasket. Get the truck moving, then roll into, mashing the throttle from a dead stop will spike the boost pressures and leave you installing ARP head studs!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for getting back with us and sorry for all the questions. Justing trying to understand how it works a little better.

Now that we have you in "6.0" mode instead of "7.3" mode :-) ... I would like to ask my original question again...

" Does this device still leave some sort of protection in place by only allowing a certain percentage higher boost (over stock maximum) or does it eliminate it (the stock overboost protection) completely?"

FYI, I am aware of all head gasket concerns with the 6.0L. BUT if "all overboost protection" is elimiated with this device it really wouldn't matter what gaskets or bolts/studs you have.

I guess what I am trying to find out is more clarity based on this comment of the product page ...

"When the turbo produces a huge volume of boost pressure, the ECM typically sets a trouble code reducing the fueling and the power by 50-80 HP
Horse Power

. The Electronic Boost Builder prevents the ECM from seeing the excess boost allowing for turbo to produce the air flow that is being demanded"

...AND THEN, your last comment (from post# 20) in response to the question about overboost concerns when using the device seems to totally contradict the product description....

"The 6.0L will de-fuel electronically through the computer not be opening a wastegate "

Again, not trying to be a pain and I really do appreciate you taking the time to answer questions, especially about such an inexpensive product as this.

If the studs are installed correctly the head gasket will be fine, I still have concerns with the over-spinning that variable turbo and the transmission, your call... user responsibility LOL

Yes, I read that it'll cause an over-boost condition "if you're not responsible" while driving, yada, yada... I'm not going to waste any money on something that intentionally causes a fail-safe to be bypassed, thereby causing explosive potential. I've got 430HP @ the crank already, so no need to try to squeeze my pistons out of the exhaust valves. I'll save my money for other mods.I personally red-flagged this thing for the 6.0 when I read about it on the sellers website. It's not for me...

I ordered one today from Innovative, I'll be the guinea pig for it on here lol. Oh and "user responsibility" is what did my head gaskets in the first time and now we have ARPs in her!

Red flagged... sounds serious!

Its a boost fooler guys, pretty common product. If you are running a Edge Juice, you are running a boost fooler!

Not really concerned with you not buying an $85 dollar item from me, just explaining what they do.

That there is funny,

The 6.0L gets a bad rap in the performance market, truth is with some upgraded parts it can make some serious power and stay reliable. Problem is the power is to easy to get and the upgrade are a expensive.

Turbo $3000
Trans $4000
Head Studs $4000-$5000
