hello everyone, new to the diesel world. bought a 93 7.3 non turbo. well i have some high squeels coming from the vacuum pump so i ordered a new one and going to replace. i see the bolts are to long to come out and hit the back of the pulley. does a person need to remove the pulley first then the bolts? and if so what kind of a puller? i have a two finger puller wondering if that would work? also does anyone have a suggestion for a good tool to grip on to rounded head bolt? i see that one of mine are rounded and when i put on wrench she rounded out more. any help would be great.

The pulley has to come off to get the pump and needs to be transferred to the new pump. Any good autoparts store should have a Ford Powersteering Pulley Puller/Pusher. Make sure you get the puller for your year of truck, there is several types. Careful the pulley bends easily.
Using a two or three jaw puller, the pulley will not be useable.
The power steering pulley tool is the only way to go.
The vacuum pump pulley is a bit concave, so finding a puller that will work may be a problem, I bought one and modified it with a grinder so it would clear the concave part of the pulley.
