convert manual to auto

Looking at 1990 f250 7.3 manual truck with 81000 miles. I would like to convert to auto because this is going to be a plow truck. How hard is this going to be to do? What auto should I use c6 or e40d? I assume the c6 is stronger? I would rather just find a auto truck but this truck has low miles. Is it worth doing?

Are these reliable motors as far as starting in the cold etc? What do you all think c6,e40d, or stick it out with the manual? Just seems like alot to run clutch, shifter, steering and plow. I know of a 92 I with an auto in it that has 300000 on the body and motor that has anew trans in it I can buy for probably 600 or 700 and belive the trans will go right in the 90, Corect?

You will want a parts truck. I just converted an auto to a manual and bought an entire donor truck for the project - it was worth it for the drive shafts, flywheel, crossmember and a pile of other bits and pieces. Personally, I would never got to an auto but if you must I think the C6 is tougher.

I do not know if the dashes will swap. On the motor starting question, these are not great when it gets really cold. Better than some but I wouldn't want to be trying to start one of these at 0 F if it hasn't been plugged in. On the transmission, i think the 92 will bolt up but I don't know about the computer if it's an E4OD. I'd stay with the stick personally, but I've had a strong disdain for things with two pedals since I was about 13...

It will be coming out of a heated garage most of the time just wanted to make sure we should not have issues with it running for 24-40 hours straight plowing. I would rather have the stick except for the plowing issue just igure it is going to get old running that cluct for 30-40 hours at a time.
