Hey guy's,
I helped a buddy of mine change his ball joints yesterday. My question is does anyone make grease-able upper ball joints, that the grease fitting can be left in(without hitting the axle)? The moog's that we used, the fitting had to be replaced with a plug before driving(because it would hit the axle).
Thanks
Most are like that. Some people have found that they can grind it down a bit and make it fit, but it's close. I just put the plugs in like you did, and leave the fittings in the glovebox so I know where they are.
Moogs or Spicers are all you'd want to use anyway. I just installed Dana/Spicer upper and lower ball joints that I got from NAPA. I hoped the upper zerk fitting could stay in.....the axle shaft was nice enough to remove it for me. I recommend removing the zerk prior to installing the axles.
Huck, I have Napa "Master Ride" ball joints in my 99 and the fitting just clears the yoke. I may take a file to it for a little added clearance, but so far so good. Mine did NOT come with a plug so I didn't have much choice but to install the fitting.

thats funny cause a "buddy of mine" helped me yesterday put in my ball joints. i put moogs in the upper and lower and yes i had to grind just a wee bit of the grease fitting to keep it from hitting.
I put the plug in the drivers side one, but when I got the the pass side one just said "fuc* it" and left it in. It made some noise for a while but then the axle ground it down and its fine now.
