Has anyone been able to install the grease fitting in the upper ball joint of a F250 4x4 without the axle shaft snapping it off? Its a pain to take out the plug and put in a fitting just to greasre and then take it back out.
I just had ball joints replaced at the dealer. The new upper ball joints have grease fittings already in them. It does look tight in there but so far they haven't broken off. How often should I grease them?
The same as Superduty4x4; just replace mine two weeks ago. I used a 90deg on the upper and it just clears; maybe 3/32. Close. I pointed it towards the rear.
My ball joints came from Napa as well- only the 90* fitting no plug. Good idea on the grinder... I may try to take a file to mine for some added clearance.
