I Feel stupid asking this, but what exactly.is a safe MAX EGT- to run my truck at in the Pownpipe ? I'm talking when towing loads uphill for short amounts of time? I easily hit 1,000 post turbo for short amounts of time. and -How much would an Intercooler help bring that down?
1250* teh magic number for pre turbo. Post can vary alot but 1000* is kinda the number you hear. I recomend putting it in the manifold. Its not very hard.
Not sure on the intercooler but i've heard up to 250*
typical numbers for the ic are 200-300 degress drops. you cant put an egt number on post turbo. there was a topic on this where a member put gauges pre and post at the same time and had as much as a 500+ degree variation in temps at a given time. the best bet is put the probe pre-turbo. its only a 5 minute job
The only time i have trouble with egts is if i have my chip turne up and 18k turned up and towing in the 25-30k range. If I back off the 18k hits about 1150* unless pulling real long steep hill. Id'e be carefule running the bully dog and 22k at eth same time towing
Now that I have 2s in its a must I can hit 1500* in about 10sec empty.
