Rear Blocks Or Rear Leaf Springs?
For a predominatly offroad vehicle, 99% mudding and 1% on-road, which would serve me better. Thinking that springs would soften the ride, which you would want for pavement, and in mud or any offroad situation, nothings smooth, would blocks work just fine? I figure they would, just wanted to make sure, heck, the kits with blocks are cheaper anyways, and i could spare the extra 200-300 for shocks or brakelines.

The only thing wrong with blocks is that they increase axle wrap. The bigger the block the worse it gets. If you get a good spring, like a skyjacker it shouldn't be any softer than stock.

axle wrap is one of those thing we all have to deal with when using blocks. Im kinda in the same situation. I have found that increasing the number of springs in the spring pack reduces the axle wrap. I have 4 inch blocks with 13 springs in each leaf pack.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 10:12 PM (EST)]Add a stiff leaf in the leaf package. It helped mine. If you want to do a little more I hear ladder bars will help alot. I`ve got 6" blocks and my add-a-leaf helped a whole lot!!

If you add a leaf to your existing spring pack, it will really stiffen up the ride and lift it about an inch and 1/2. Latter bars would be a better option. If you got whole new leaf springs with more leaves, it will be better.

only thing with ladder bars(if you dont design a shacckle for the end of it) is they also stiffen the ride and reduce the amount the axle and articulate. add-a-leafs are a good solution to reduce the amount of block you need..reduce axlewrap, give you 1.5-2.5 inches of lift and stiffen the ride for cheap. If you got the money...go springs the first time and be done with it. Or theres always a shackle flip for 4 inches
