What do you think my chances are Brendan. I flat out told the cop i was testing a new part on my truck, and that was the only reason i was speeding.
OK, the part where you told him you were testing a part.... not a good idea. 'nuf said there
Now... your chances.... here's what I would do:
1. Get the speedo fixed asap.
2. Get the shop that fixes the speedo to document that when you are actually traveling at 67mph physically, your speedo was showing "XX" mph. Get it in writing and take it to court.
3. Wait to do the class. It'll show you're willing to take responsibility for your actions and do something to correct them.
4. Ask for leniency. Acknowledge that the officer's ticket is likely accurate, but given speedo error, etc. would PBJ be possible. (PBJ is the #1 sandwich in the world, but in this case I mean Probation Before Judgment )
With this being your first offense you might get off very easy, but then again, you're in VA.....
DO NOT LIE TO THE JUDGE. I saw one guy do it, get caught, and they HAMMERED him... and rightly so.
I think we need to clone Mike and put him on the streets 24/7!!!
Ahhhh what a wonderful night. Went to wallyworld to pick up the usual college supplies (pop tarts, hot pockets, cheapest beer i could find) and thought the truck was making a weird noise. So, me being me, I gunned on it when it locked 3rd. Mind you i was in a 55 when it locked.... well i hit "67" apparently and the speed limit had dropped to 45. Not a great night to say the least. Ahh , just had to vent a lil guys, sorry.
O btw- the noise was a bag i had in the back of the truck making a whistling noise. I did see 23 lbs of boost though lol
You might want to pay the damn thing. I got a speeding ticket in Arizona in 1986, 87 in a 65. I had an Alaskan drivers license at the time and did not pay the ticket. I tried to get a new Alaska license last time I was up there, and you know, 21 years later Arizona still has a stop on my license. Screw them.l
