Cool Nobody has shift rail plugs

I can't find shift rail plugs anywhere locally and I need to get the tranny back in tonight. Any suggestions on a bandaid fix until I can find new plugs? Smear them with high-temp RTV?

DO a search. You can use the flat steel freeze pulgs as a permanent fix. I just do not remember the size. some around 5/8"

Definitely remember to put sealant around the freeze plugs, they will leak if not. Sorry, don't remember the size. The only place that had the rubber ones was the dealer.

I don't need to DO a search on the plugs, I know what I need. The fact is nobody local has the the Dorman or Dana plugs. Summit Racing stocks them but are out until 10/31 and I need to fix the truck now. I just went to the Ford dealer and ordered the factory plugs for $6.05 each and they'll be here tomorrow.

Also a good tranny shop can make you a set of brass ones. It's been done on here many times in the past.

Thanks for the tip. The problem is nobody around here wants to work on a manual trans.

Yeah, everything is smooth as butter. I got the Perfection Brand slave and clutch kit at Advance because they had the best deal. The shift rail plugs came to the dealer the day after I ordered them. Used my Actron Brake Bleeder to bleed the system and everything is great. I really appreciate the help.
