Can someone provide the size for the brass or soft metal plugs needed to replace the leaking rubber shift rail plugs? I have been searching and find the plugs referenced in a number of places but never with the size.
I got new rubber replacement plugs from the dealer. I used permatex H3 aviation gasket sealant on them when I replaced the old ones. I probably could have just used the old ones over with gasket sealant (or silicone), but didn't.
If you have the M5OD, you'll want ot use Dorman part # 555-108, which has a nominal diameter of 5/8"(15.90mm). It is a cup type expansion plug. ( Dana part # 219-3052)
You'll need three of them to do the job...

Can these be installed without dropping the transmission like the rubber OEM ones?
Yeah behind them there's a straight shot for a long ways, just take your pick. I've never tried the through the floor panel way, so I can't comment on space available there.

Any clue where to find these boogers?
I tried those numbers at Autozone and a part of the Dana number the computer picked up was a tranny temp gauge tap for a Fiat....needless to say, that wasn't gonna work.
I had ZERO luck finding the stock plugs....stealership said the plugs were a non-serviceable item...
I may just have to troll some local tranny shops, since I'm sure they've dealt with this...and I hunted down the shifter alignment pins from one when I rebuilt the shifter bushings.
Hmm that's odd. I got them from a stealership up here.
I know Eagle Transmissions in Plano stocks them, though I don't guess that's much use to you. If you have an Eagle Transmissions near you, try there, or a local mom and pop shop.
