Just wondering;

If the UK's healthcare is so great, why do so many Brits have rotten teeth??
(maybe denistry isn't part of health care???)

Very correct that the dental is not part of the healthcare. people in the UK dont like paying extra for dental work seeings they are all ready taxed for healthcare. Silly because a lot of people in the UK do have rotten theeth lol.

In the top 100 countrys for healthcare the uk was 18 and the US was 37 and what i find strange is i pay over $200 a month for my helathcare and would expect it to be a lot better than what i got for my $60 a month in the UK. Seems like people get ripped off over here on things they shouldnt be Helath insurance and property tax just for starters.

Yes, insurance companies are living the sweet life, ripping us off by taking our money for years but always finding ways to not pay out.

Well, I am helping my wife set up for a book fair in a few minutes, which means moving stuff to the school. So I will try and be aware of how much I strain, reaching into the bed as I load it.

Is that the same great healthcare system that had the extremely long waits times in the ER ( i.e 8+ hours to over 24 hours), so the government passed a law requiring hospitals to see patients within 4 hours. This sounded like a great idea. Now patients are seen within 4 hours of entering the hospital. There is one slight problem now, hospitals will not let sick people into the hospital unless they know they can see the patient within 4 hours. People are now having to wait in most cases at least 1 hour, but it is not uncommon to wait 3 or 4 hours, in the ambulance. This is now tying up the ambulances since they cant respond to another call till they transfer they replace the patient to the hospital.

Is this the great health care system you were talking about?

The healthcare system in the United States may not be everyone's favorite, but it is pretty dang good. Everyone thinks that Canada is another good one, but go ask someone that needs a kidney transplant. They have to wait till they are almost dead before they can have transplant surgery. That sounds like a great healthcare system doesn't it? Oh, by the way their great public healthcare system is also causing massive government debt.

Lastly, the WHO ranking system that you sighted has some major errors. To give a few examples, each ranking has about an 80 percent error. Next, let's say that one country that has great heathcare for most, but only good healthcare for a few disadvantaged. While another country had poor healthcare for everyone. The first country would have a lower ranking than the second. Meaning a country with a poor healthcare system would rank higher than a country with, at the worst, a good healthcare system.

I apologize to everyone for not letting this thread get back on topic. I did not want to continue the back and forth bickering, but i feel that I had to address this myth that the United States healthcare system is horrible.

Its a shame the the U. S. health system spends a higher portion of its gross domestic product than any other country in the world but ranks one of the lowest. also It where the WHO rate's them and has nothing to do with me and where i rate them.

A familey member of ours in US had had cancer since very young and costs him thousands a year to have treatment. Father in law had neck surgery and cost him $11k out of his own pocket, Wifes grandma needs hip replacement but aint covered under insurance because of past problems. This is where the US people are getting ripped. But hey if you think the helathcare is system here is great then good for you. Just hope you never get ill.

Also i have never waited more than 2 hours to see anyone when i hurt my self. Most times you are seen within 10-20 mins. If it very bad then you will be seen straight away. I have had to use the UK health system quite a lot in my trade.

anyway i love the look of the '09 f150's, but i hate the fact that they seem to be a tad higher priced than my similar equipped '08... hopefully in a few years they'll come with the diesel in the f150, then i'll be ready to buy again...

I promised that i did not want to continue this back and forth bickering. I also believe that this is not the correct forum, sub-forum, or thread for this discussion. But I will make this last post, then if you want the last word, then you are welcome to it.

First off, I am not attacking you personally, nor do I think what I say in just a single post will change your views. I highly respect you standing up for what you believe.

The point I was trying to make with the WHO ranking is that people often quote this study, but fail to realize the error in the study. That study was started with the premise that the United States healthcare is bad and the Europe public healthcare system is perfect and without problems. They then designed a study to say that. People then cite this study without knowing the underlying errors in the study. I am not saying that you rank countries in the same order that the WHO does. What i am saying is that before people use the WHO study to make judgments about healthcare, they should know the inherent faults in the study.
If you want to read about the errors in the study, here is a web page that discusses them. WHO's Fooling Who? The World Health Organization's Problematic Ranking of Health Care Systems

When it comes to wait time here are a few articles that talk about the wait times.
BBC NEWS | England | Hereford/Worcs | 'Waiting room' ambulance concerns
Scandal of patients left for hours outside A&E | Society | The Observer

Do I think that the American healthcare system is without fault? No. I think there needs to be improvements to the system. I just believe that the system should be given more credit than it receives. It should not be thrown to the gutter and left for the dogs.

As I said before, I will let you have the last word. Sir the floor is yours.

2009 F150's do not have or need health insurance so let's try to stick with the trucks.
