I'm not to fond of the new F150s myself, but I haven't really liked the looks of them since the 92-96 era. Its just the trend though cars started getting goofy looking a few years back and now the trucks are catching up.
Not that I'd own one but I think the early nineties Chevy trucks, and 94+ Dodge rams, are nice looking trucks as well, they sure as hell look a lot better then what those companies are selling now.
I miss the days when trucks were a little boxy, but the had nice body lines. The days when it looked like all the body parts/panels on a vehicle belonged together. For the most part newer vehicles are just ugly as hell now.
1. I think the best looking Ford era is the era representing the vehicle(s) I own.
or
2. New vehicles suck because I don't have one (rather than the inverse of this statement).
In other words, nothing "I" own is ugly or bad, just what others own.
when i think quality i dont think asian at all. I think german. Watch any show like top gear or fith gear and you will see people giving honest reviews of cars/truck and you will see almost every US car/truck that gets tested get slated from top to bottom. This is why Hardly any US cars get imported to europe because differnet markets want a different product. I got to say that every US car i have driven has felt disconected from the road and Handling was none exsistant and build quality was awful. Recently drove my mates dodge charger r/t and he thought it was the best thing since sliced breed. I drove it and felt bad for him. It was slow to responed, handled like it has sponges as suspension and wernt no where near as quick as i thought it would be with all that power. Was not at all impressed but i told him it was nice so he didnt feel bad. Dont even get me going about interior design. God dam some of the people who have designed US cars really have no design style. I have never driven a US car that felt as nice as something like a VW or Audi and i dont think i ever will. You want quality then stick to german or if you like asain. These cars are designed for the markets they are in and americains are known for having no fasion sense or sense of style and thats why cars over here look so boring.
also tseekins what makes you think that european cars are expensive, unreliable and hard to work on?? Have you worked on many because i can tell you i have. My bro own's his own repair garage in the UK and i can tell you the cars are no different to work on than any other countrys cars. American cars are known in the trade to be unreliable. I can say for my self that since being in the US (9 months)i have spent over $5000 on repairs to a jeep and my farther in laws chevy trans has given out twice already also my bro in laws GM always in for repair for lights coming on and dials going funny. Im not even going to get started about the saturn, dodge, chevy problems my friends have. But the mazda,Range rover, BMW, Audi's and Lotus cars our familey has has never had problems. The worst i have ever had with european car was a split manifold which was my fault for running a induction kit.
Well you see, that explains my point. I said Fords are more reoliable than Euro cars and you give me examples of Chevies, Dodge, Saturn and other non-Ford vehicles. Clearly you agree, you just ordered a Platinum. Enjoy it, it's going to be a great Truck!

Fords in the UK have the name wood and board because of there build quality and its no different here in the US. The focus in UK was a pile of pop and it is also a pile of pop here in the US. The mustang in the UK is a pile of pop and it's a pile of pop here. I Know for sure i am gonna be happy with me truck and i know there aint much better on the market. I know for sure though that if BMW, Audi, VW or any other higher end auto maker made a truck that it would for sure be better than the rest. Just like the cars are but we dont have this choice so i bought what i think is the best and thats the f150. US auto makers need to step up there game though as they are gonna be so far behind that they will find it hard to recover.
My sister had a Lotus Esprit back in 1987. It was in the shop more than it was on the road. It was a POS. She had a Mercedes after that, and it's headlights didn't work most of the time. She went to a BMW after that, and it burned oil. Now she has a Mustang, and her husband has ordered an F-150 that's supposed to be at the lot in 2 weeks.
Couple of problems with that review. 1. It is an automatic: hurts performance (this option is also optional with extra cost) 2. Covertible: Hurts handling and costs extra. 3. It is not a GT. Mustang GTs have GT badging all over them, this one has none at all. It doesn't even sound like a V8. Instead of the 300HP 4.6V8 they claim it has, it has a 210HP ancient V6. They paid extra for the performance hurting automatic and convertible roof, then cheap out on the engine.
So what were you saying about TopGear being honest and unbiased?

The good thing about UK topgear over the undecided US version is the show is paid for by the tax payer and has zero funds coming ford/chevy/bmw/porsche and any other auto maker for that fact. The US one was blasted due to the fact that these motor companys here wanted to pay them massive amounts of money to give a good review of the car as topgear gives honest reviews of cars. Weather it be a UK model or US model. The Mustang is a dog. It's got a very basic suspesion setup, very basic rear axle, very basic intrior. Very low BHP/litre figure compaired to equivalent cars and it handles like a dog and no one can deny that. Some people need to see how bad the cars the US make are but some people just seem to be blind to it. The US cant be faulted in there eye's.
Why the hell does anyone care what Top Gear says about cars and trucks? I don't care about that show at all!
The last good body style for Ford was 92-96. This doesn't include super duty. It does exclude the newest one though. The last good body style of Dodge was 1994-2001. The last good body style for Chevy was 88-99.

I don't agree with this statement. The new trucks etc being ugly is the reason that I don't own one.

You have the right to believe as you will. The Mustang and the Focus are very safe and well built cars that cater to America's middle class just like the Taurus and the Fusion.
Mercedes...... High maintanence pile of junk.
VW " "
BMW " "
Audi " "
Rover HIGHER maintanence pile of junk
Perhaps your accustomed to higher end vehicles and are totally out of touch with what things actually cost, but your info is jaded, biased and not very well informed. The Coast Guard has carried me all over the globe and to all seven seas and most people out side of the US hate Americans and American made products, Canada is no exception. No offense intended, truth is truth.

Ah, just skipped right over what I said about them lying which engine the mustang had, so where is this honesty you talk about again. As for the mustang suspension, it has fairly modern coil-over independent front suspension. There is also nothing wrong with a solid rear axle. The roush mustang that was also in the same special that clip was from that handled good still had that "horrible" solid axle in the rear. Also, since when does HP/Liter mean anything? You sound like one of the people who say the corvette's leaf springs are ancient technology.

One example of this i just rememberd was i was at a birthday party for a familey friend a couple weeks ago and i met a bloke who drives a pace car for a race circuit near to where i live. Got chatting to him and he started going on about how nice this new pace car he has was. I was thinking it would be a mustang or something. Well he then said come out and take a look. It was a full spec VW R32 in pace form. Looked crazy on the road with all the lights and stickers on it and he had it with him as he was taking it to be serviced. Well he then started to tell me about it's the best car he has ever driven. I was amazed as he seemed to be the type of person who would love a US muscle car. Asked him why he liked it and every reason why i liked it he liked it as well. I think people need to drive these cars from other countrys just so they are aware of how bad some of these cars are over here.

Im glad there's someone here who has a passport then. The reason most people outside the US hate americains is because of a few things.
1. most are loud. way to loud.
2. They think everything there country makes is the best
3. They think they are better at everything than every other country
4. They think they are better than everyone else
Since i been here i have met many a person like this and only a few people that i can get along with without telling them to shut the F up and stop talking sh**.
If you traveled and meet people other than US people you would know the reason for this.
The same goes for people in england though. Im embarrised to go to places on vacation where english people go because they Drink way to much, Start fights every place they go and destroy the whole area they are in. and im sure you know what americain people im talking about.
If i had not driven Audi's, VW's BMW's, Range rovers, lambos and any other brand of car then i wouldnt have anything to compaire it to. but i have and the US cars just dont do it for me. They Dont give you the feeling you should get when you get into a nice car and drive it. I dont expect my truck to feel like a Audi R8 or a VW R32 but i know it's a truck and no more than a truck. But after driveing some of these so called US muscle cars i cant see the fasination with them. No driver feed back, Understeer, Sloopy steering, Slow throttle response, Slow power delivery, Sloopy gearboxes, Bad traction, Awful breaks and so on. They just aint fun to drive like a good sports car should be.
