How good is the Dana 24 transfer case?

I have a 68 F-250 hiboy, and its built to the hilt, but the transfer case is slipping out of 2high, into neutral, often.I was quoted a price of 185$ to have it rebuilt, is it worth it, or should I adapt a NP205?
The transfer case is a divorced unit, and it has been a blessing in dealing with driveline angles, with my lift. With the body lift, shackle lift and suspension lift, I have 14" of lift.Is it a trans case worth rebuilding or should I scrap it?Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a chance to upgrade, you will have the case out anyway,go to the 205, it's a bullet proof box especially if you run a lot of horses.I went from the single speed to the 205 and have not had a hint of trouble in 5 years!!

I have to agree with the previous post. My buddies and I's NP205's have takend all the off-road abuse that we can dish out, and thats with built engines. You won't regret a swap.

I would pay the 185. I have 1972 f-250 with 390,60front,14bolt,lockers,etc. Am still using Dana 24,after almost 30 years I have never had a problem.
