I have a problem with my 2006 F150 4X4. I have had an intermitant problem (about a dozen times now) where after driving and I come to a complete or partial stop - during acceleration, I get a very loud noise - almost a grinding or draging sound from the transmission - sounds like maybe even a slipping sound. It's so loud that I have to pull off to the side of the road and then it stops - sometimes a loud clunk sound occurs. If I coast and put it in neutral it goes away.. any ideas??
Ok, so I went and got a new filter and gasket, and after I dropped the pan, METAL everywhere in my pan, the magnet is full of flakes, little chunks all over the pan.. Now I gotta get it towed to a good tranny place in Tallahassee... Anyone know a place?
I am having the same problem with my 05 4x4. Ford dealer had no idea what it was without tearing into it. You think it is the torque converter then?? Thanks.

I had the same issue, i just got my truck back from the dealer and $4375 is what the total bill would have been if i didnt have a warranty.. I had ton of shavings in the pan. I had worn out clutch packings and a few other things. My truck would SLAM going into 2nd and 3rd gear every so often, and down shift hard as if i was down shifting it manually.
Sorry it is happening to you... its not fun thats for sure..
