Mileage changes from a 140v IDM

I've read about the 140v idm mod giving better throttle responce and more power. But has anyone seen a difference in mileage?

foot outta it.

I voted rolling coal too much to care. I wasn't tracking mileage very close when I put mine in. If you need to justify it to the war department (wife/girlfriend/parents who hold your credit card) YES IT INCREASES MILEAGE (and decreases green house emissions)

I said nothing, if it did, it wasn't enough to notice. you could make more of an adjustment by just changing driving habits. I'd categorize it as a "performance" mod, injectors open sooner and stay open longer.... so.... you be the judge!

I picked increase, but could just have easily picked no change. My fuel economy is just a tick higher, like two tenths on average. The upside of that is she's been doing just a hair over 18 MPG this summer, which has never happened before.

No idea. The coal rolls so that is all I desire.

So would a performance gain be realized if you already have a chip? Would a high voltage IDM mod be redundant and not noticeable if you had a good chip - similar to not needing a 10K mod with a chip?

The chip will adjust the pulse width, while the 140 IDM will make the injector soleniod more responsive to the pulse. so instead of taking .1ms to open it might take .05ms to open, and instead of it shutting in the last .2ms, it might shut in the last .1ms.
I dont have any real numbers but based on how it works, yes, it would give you more power even with a chip.

So what is the highest factory IDM voltage and what year truck can they be found in? I'm totally comfortable swapping the resistor the mod write ups talk about, but I'd like to have a working spare if I do the mod. It is a direct swap between any 7.3 right?

The highest voltage IDM stock is 120 found in 00-03 trucks and vans.

Thanks Tim! So modding one to 140V won't potentially damage anything, or cause premature failure to the IDM? And they can be swapped directly between years right?

As long as you do the mod right, you wont hurt anything.
this was discussed before, and IIRC the injector solenoids are good until 160 V.
