Hello to you all. I'm new to posting. I have a project truck , early 50 f1. I'm not sure if I'm welcome here or not. I had a 69 chevy pickup that was wrecked. It wasn't the truck I wanted. I kept the engine and trans a installed a 50 f1 frame and body around them. This seems to be not acceptable to allot of you. What's the problem? I made my wrecked chevy into a ford. I like it.

Welcom to the board Timboy, chev engine or not, it's your truck and your welcome to do what you like. A bit of ribbing is in order I'm sure, but it's all in fun, as there are quite a few guys/gals here running the "other" powerplants. Enjoy.
ah a chevy into a ford sort of born again
Welcome aboard you have found a great site to list on or just read and lie in the shadows either way I know you will enjoy the other post and pick up a lot of points to help in the seamly inless transformation of our collective hobby
mine:53 f1OO with toyota buckets seats and trying to stay a little orginal and a little me
Its all about the love of the ford pickmeup and a personel touch here and there Mark
A Ch**y into a Ford? Especially in a '50 Ford?!! (Man, I always wanted to use that one) Not exactly what I would do but at least you saved another piece of iron from going to the scrapper. Just don't tell me you yanked a good flattie out of a prestine truck. Please don't tell me that! I'm feeling sick again
Welcome to the board...you're not the first to put a Chevy engine in a Ford truck and probably won't be the last. Besides my 54 and 56 F100s, I have a 56 BW 3100 Chevy...I plan to put a Ford 302 in it so maybe that will make up for yours!
Do you put parts of cats in dogs also?
You can't ask any questions reguarding the installation, operation or maintenance of the chevy Parts in the Ford.
We like pictutes but you will have to keep the hood closed.
I guess that'll do for a start.

No No No --- this isn't like carbon credits where you can trade the off.
i have a 55 f100 with a 350 chevy, turbo 350 tranny and a chevelle front clip. it may **** some people off, but i love it. as far as i can tell, as long as you have a love for old ford trucks and sharing your experience with them you should be welcome here. i'm new myself but have been reading these forums for years.
Welcome aboard. Chevy in a Ford is a touchy subject on this site. Being that this is Ford Truck Enthusiasts, most of us are Ford people and nothing but a Ford should be in the powerplant, myself included. I can respect a different engine in a Ford, but people in here tend to get their feathers ruffled on the subject. I can't speak for everyone, but everyone is welcome here. It's the same thing if you go to Chevy site, you don't mention the word Ford there either. I'd stay away from the Chevy engine topic in here because it causes a whole lot of bad feelings and isn't productive conversation. Have we been there before????
I totally understand the reason to put a Chev motor in a Ford. There are so many Chev motors in the junk yards to choose from that it makes it easier to find than a Ford motor.
Yes welcome aboard to this forum. At least you are half way there and have a ford pickup body surrounded by Ch..y internals. Maybe the light might shine brighter and one day return to the fold. May the Ford gods be on your side in your hour of needs here.....lol
Welcome to FTE, Timboy. Glad to have you. You are welcome here. We have folks with everthing under the hood from Caddy to Mercedes diesel engines. What ever floats your boat. A Ch**y engine in an early '50 F-1, huh. Don't be surprised if one day you find that it has developed a bucktooth grill in protest. (all in good natured fun) Keep us posted on your progress.
I've got a breakfast buddy that's a GM guy. He says their bunch get their shorts in a wad at the mention of a Ford 9" pushing their iron down the road. Seems like fair pay back to me.
I'll give the FTE admin some credit on one point. Here, you can use the word Chevy and it will appear. Some sites I go to, you have to "x" out some letters in Ford to get the word to post. That's just lame.
And in a continuing effort to keep it churned up, here's a pic of a 53 vette from Indy Goodguys. Enjoy.
Welcome aboard. I wouldn't worry about the Chevy thing too much. You'll be fine around here as long as you don't start spewing stuff like "my brand of engine is better than your brand of engine". Yes, we do have some die hard purists who get a little cranky about "cross contamination" but in the end, if you're in need of some help, they will help you out.
I myself have cross contaminated my truck. I'm running a big 500ci Caddy engine. I have parts on my truck from all the major manufacture and rangine from the 1940's all the way up through 2005. I have Buick, Caddy, Chevy, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Toyota as well as parts from the marine industry and the local hardware store. The hardware store parts range from toilet seat parts to elecrical conduit sweeps.
I guess the point of this is, its your truck, you got to build it to make you happy
