Yeah, the new I-4 is a 2.5 at 171 hp, plus better mpg than the old 2.3 it replaced.

09 escape

i test drove a 09 fwd ford escape with the new 14 2.5 on sat, they only had one in stock. it rode real nice and had no problems with power, loved the new 6speed trans. only thing i didnt like was it had a slight vibration in drive at idle.i could feel it in my legs. weird because it would go away as soon as you drove. told the sales guy that but he was busy doing other things. nice but that vibration drove me nuts.

I have owned and driven three Rangers with a manual trannys and two with autos - I'll take the auto tranny any day over the manual. As for the comments about not actually driving with an auto - I have installed gears and a lock right in my current Ranger and the one before. You think you can drive just because you shift gears? Try driving a Ranger with a locker as your daily driver before boasting about your driving skills next time. lol
