Mark, nice looking work. I've got several friends who do carpentry, and I know the struggles they can have just building normal stuff. Pieces of art like that deck are a considerable challenge. You should be proud of that.
I agree. Some people can do woodwork, and some people have a talent for it. Mark would pass out if he saw the stand I made for my swamp cooler. Just like my welds, it's strong enough to hold an elephant, but ugly enough to make small children and women cry.
Lisa, you make me smile. You also do realize, that IA is a lot closer to Smokin' than CO too...which means no matter what, you've gotta go. Might even make a decent road trip for you to swing through here where I'm at then head south from here, either riding together or driving separately. I'm about 4 hours from Des Moines, for reference.
Thanks Jeremy. 4 Hours from Des Moines huh? Yeah you wouldn't be far away at all. We might have to discuss an arrangement. I think the guys would be fairly disappointed if I didn't bring red, even though the fuel savings would be an attractive option. . Besides, without the truck, where would I sleep? I usually set up my tent in the bed of the pickup...
But if we drove out there Smokey & The Bandit style, I'd have to get a CB so we could communicate. Heck maybe we could pick up other FTE members on our way down there. 10-4?
I can just see it now. "Hey Jeremy, check out that guy pickin his nose in that blue Camry.."

Yup, only 4 hours. Made that trip in May when I picked up the Cummins there.
Even if you wanted to drive your truck down there, which I can't say I blame you, something tells me you wouldn't have to set up the tent in the bed of the truck -- a whole bunch of guys around and a chick that digs trucks, even has a modified one of her own, needs a place to stay...yeah, I don't think the bed of your truck is your only options.
No CB's in my truck, but I do have some walkies with a decent range to them, which would definately suffice. We'd be talking about every other person on the road. Mike (Tenn) is on the way down there. I don't think he'll miss it. We had way too much fun that weekend. There may be some more by the time it comes around.
you all are cracking me up. Lisa is in a mood today.... A good mood for sure. Nice work Mark. Its good to see craftsmanship like that. You hear so many horror stories of contractors that suck. I want one of those remote control kegs, ahh but I don't want the beer belly.
I was going to tell Mark that acceptance of his offer could be considered prostitution...
So now I'm over here entertaining myself with discovery of the paralells between deck building and prostitution.
For example,
a deck builder accepts money to insert a big deck
a prostitute accepts money to insert a *** ****.
I won't even start on where I could go with laying wood..
Sorry for the offensive material you all, I guess I'm not very PC today!...at least I leave you all as speechless as Mark left me.
WOW! thats too funny. we've all gotta meet up sometime and I gotta buy lisa a beer. . . I have a gal friend like you lisa and friends like you are amazing I'm going to be laughing for a while. . . you may actually be in competition with me for being able to turn any conversation or comment sexual. . . . and you don't find to many women who can do that!
Timmy
PS: Keep up the good work lisa!

Do they have campsites at Smokin' for tents?
How far away are those cabins at Smokin'? I dont wanna miss out on any of the fun down at the campgrounds
Not sure whether there are any for tents or not, but the cabins weren't more than 50-100 feet from Brandon's camper last time. I could have thrown a rock from sitting in the chair in front of the camper and hit the cabin.
wow mark that deck looks awesome alot better than the deck i helped my dad build and paint
Thank you Jacob, I am actually praying for a job from a member here. I need something to do I am getting real tired of fooling with this computer 75% of my not sleeping hours. Too many homeowners try to do their own deck and then when they go to sell the house the first thing the prospective buyer is going to think about is how much it's going to cost to get that thing replaced.

Alright thanks, Ill look into the cabins when I hear about dates for smokin then. I think Ill be able to manage stumbling..I mean walking a 100 ft or so from the campgrounds.
