That looks awesome Mark. If I ever have a house that needs a deck I will be calling you!

Thank you, and yes I have all of my fingers left. Very few carpenters my age can make that claim. I've had a lot of really bad cuts in my life and a couple of life threatening falls, but have somehow survived. I take a lot of pride in my work. Those diamonds are probably the most difficult design you can do because all of the material has to be the exact same width and that's not how it comes from the supplier so I have to rip every piece to the exact same width before I can even start. On my own house I had 3 decks and one of them was the one and only checker board deck I've ever seen. A whole Hell of a lot of work in a checker board deck.

..........................I've been sitting here for about 10 minutes trying to decide how to respond to this. Still not sure I've come up with anything.

She was supposed to too. I have a daughter that is nearly old enough to be her mother and my son is too old for her. So that should settle the matter.

I am too Timmy.

I was going to tell Mark that acceptance of his offer could be considered prostitution...

So now I'm over here entertaining myself with discovery of the paralells between deck building and prostitution.

For example,
a deck builder accepts money to insert a big deck
a prostitute accepts money to insert a *** ****.

I won't even start on where I could go with laying wood..

Sorry for the offensive material you all, I guess I'm not very PC today!...at least I leave you all as speechless as Mark left me.

I'm not speechless my dear, I'm just trying to decide whether to share a funny prostitute story from the Far East. It's a true story but very hard to believe, so I consider it a long time before I tell it.

I wasn't sure if my comments were going to get the thread closed or not. Are we allowed to talk about prostitution on here? I never read the rules. lol.

I don't see why not. Oldest profession in the world you know. lol

And I'm starting to get excited for it already.

Mark, nice looking work. I've got several friends who do carpentry, and I know the struggles they can have just building normal stuff. Pieces of art like that deck are a considerable challenge. You should be proud of that.

Lisa, you make me smile. You also do realize, that IA is a lot closer to Smokin' than CO too...which means no matter what, you've gotta go. Might even make a decent road trip for you to swing through here where I'm at then head south from here, either riding together or driving separately. I'm about 4 hours from Des Moines, for reference.

Thank you very much Jeremy, I tried to rep you for that compliment, but I have to spread more around. Yes there is a lot of work in a deck like that. You can forget making cookie cutter type money with work like that but the homeowner remembers you forever.
