I just talked to 4wheelparts and they have the Solidaxlefront diff cover on sale for $98.99, nodular iron with all the hardware and powder coated. I have to stop by to pay for it, then they'll order it.

I think you just made many guys $100 poorer. Nice find on the Front cover, wish I new about it 4 months ago.
This post should be about making SD owners aware of how cheap the steel cover really is. Ridiculous on a truck that costs what it does. A friend of mine lost his diff a few years ago traveling from NY to Ohio when his fluid started pouring out and he didn't know it. Actually had a quarter size piece of the cover fall out due to rust. Even if you don't want the aluminum cover at least get under there and spray some undercoating on it.
The front axle (Dana 50 or 60) cover is about twice as thick as the rear cover. It just amazes my how someone can overlook a cover or pan rusting so badly it starts to seep oil. Seems to happen pretty often though. A wire brush and a rattle can of black paint goes a long way.
quick question(pardon my ignorance?) How can I tell what axle housings are on my F-350 4x4 crewcab job 3 truck? dana 50/dana60?
Should be a Dana 60. I think Ford switch over to Dana 60 up front on 250s and 350s in 04' but I'm not 100% shure. if you have a SRW the rear axle is a sterling 10.5
Yup that's exactly what I bought. Maybe could have gone with a 1 1/4" length instead of 1"
Thanks. Ford-trucks.com was ssoooo slow yesterday, I couldn't tell if it posted.
Anywhoo, I look at thedieselstop.com and found several threads there. They all said to use 1¼" bolts, so that is what I did. The local trans shop installed the cover this morning and I just picked it up and it looks great!!!
Related --> FWIW, I had the shop install a PML deep transmission pan 2 years ago. Reasonably priced and NO LEAKS.
